AMS PTA Meeting and Parent Workshop “Teens and Stress”

Please join us for our next AMS PTA Meeting and Parent Education Workshop on Thursday, November 17th
  • This month’s PTA meeting will feature a very informative Parent Education Workshop focused on “Teens and Stress”, presented by Dr. Abby Medcalf
  • The PTA meeting and workshop will be held in the AMS library starting at 7 PM

Teens and Stress:
How Teen Brains React Differently and How Parents Can Help
Teenagers experience stress differently than adults. For them, stress can cause serious problems including neurological damage (it limits learning and memory while increasing emotionality), growth disruption and negatively affecting digestion and metabolism.
In this workshop you’ll learn:
  • How your teen’s brain is different when it comes to stress
  • Practical tips and coping strategies your kid can use to stop stress in its tracks
  • The “right” way to respond to your teen’s stress (you’ve likely been doing it wrong, and don’t even know it)
As always, this will be an interactive format where we look at our parenting with humor, patience and warmth. You’ll leave the session feeling like you have effective and helpful coping strategies to help your kid stop stressing and start problem-solving.
